Demographic parameters of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Lep.: Plutellidae) on five rapeseed cultivars
Authors
Abstract:

the diamondback moth, plutella xylostella (l.) (lep.: plutellidae) is one of the most destructive insectpests of cruciferous crops throughout the world. in this research, the demographic parameters of p. xylostellawere studied on five rapeseed cultivars including licord, modena, okapi, rgsoo3 and regxkobra. theexperiments were conducted in a growth chamber at temperature of 25 â± 1â°c, 60 â± 5%...
full textEvaluating trap crops for diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae).
Potential trap crops for the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), were evaluated through a series of ovipositional preference and larval survival experiments in outdoor screenhouses in 2002 and 2003. Hosts examined as trap crops were glossy and waxy collards, Brassica oleracea L. variety acephala; Indian mustard, Brassica juncea (L.) Czern; and yellow rocket, B...
full textChronic Sublethal Effects of Cantharidin on the Diamondback Moth Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)
The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), is a major pest of cruciferous vegetables worldwide. Cantharidin, a natural toxin isolated from blister beetles, has been reported to be toxic to P. xylostella. However, little is known on the chronic sublethal effects of cantharidin on this species. In this study, we assessed the changes of susceptibility, develop...
full textPathogenicity of Nosema sp. (Microsporidia) in the Diamondback Moth, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)
Biological control using pathogenic microsporidia could be an alternative to chemical control of the diamondback moth (DBM) Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). The microsporidium Nosema bombycis (NB) is one of the numerous pathogens that can be used in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of DBM. However, its pathogenicity or effectiveness can be influenced by various factors, parti...
full texteffects of ecdysteroidal extract of spinacia oleracea on demographic parameters of the diamondback moth, plutella xylostella l. (lepidoptera: plutellidae)
plant extracts, like phytoecdysteroids, are currently studied because of the possibility of their use in plant protection. phytoecdysteroids are insect steroid hormone analogues, and they are believed to deter invertebrates from plants, either by acting as antifeedants or by being toxic through hormonal disruption on ingestion. we describe here the effects of extract from spinacia oleracea l. (...
full textEvaluation of presence-absence sampling plans for the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)
Two sets of sequential presence-absence sampling plans for the management of diamondback moth (DBM) were developed and evaluated, one for the classification of levels of the proportions of plants infested with larvae and the other for the classification of levels of larval density. The action thresholds investigated were 0.15, 0.25, 0.35 and 0.45 for proportion-based sampling plans and 0.2, 0.4...
